Marakissa
To the south of Brikama lies the village of Marakissa, with a wide variety of surrounding habitats including open woodland, rice fields, swamp and shrub land.
Common sightings include, Spotted Honeyguide, Yellow-throated Longclaw, African Golden Oriole, Yellow-billed Black Kite, Purple Glossy Starling, Blue-bellied Roller and Cardinal Woodpecker. Around Marakissa trees full of Village Weaver nests are common and you may even enjoy the sight of a Tawny Eagle over the treetops. Bateleur Eagles may be seen overhead and are easily identified by the distinctive rocking motion in flight.
