The Halcyon garden is a delightful oasis with many different visiting species of wildlife.
As well as reptiles, butterflies and other small creatures there have been nearly seventy different bird species recorded.
Watching Hooded Vultures trying to balance on the bird bath is entertaining and being just feet away from Beautiful Sunbirds drinking nectar from nearby potted flowers is a delightful experience.
Bee-eaters swoop down to drink from the swimming pool, and in the evening the bats skim the surface picking off insects attracted by the pool lights.
Our regular Cattle Egret has learned to drink from the specially created bird pool, after a near mishap involving much flapping to avoid falling in the swimming pool!
Below is our garden list of birds in the garden or flying over. It will be updated regularly (we hope!) as new species are spotted.
